Letting Charlie go...

We have been struggling for a while as to what to do with our very determined puggle, named Charlie.  He had been trained successfully to stay in our yard with the aide of an underground electric fence.  When we left for our Disney trip Charlie decided to bare down and barge through the fence.  Perhaps he was looking for us, or maybe he saw a bunny he just had to have.  Either way the last 3.5 months have been a difficulty in keeping him contained.  We went through 3 collars and adjusted the settings to the max, and we were unsuccessful at keeping him safe in our yard.

Thankfully we found a foster home for dogs, and they graciously opened their home to Charlie!  They have a big fenced in backyard, and Charlie has been flourishing there with the other doggies, and we are so relieved that he is safe.  They interview prospective families and then do home visits with the dogs to make sure they are a good fit.  They turn away as many families as they adopt out to, and really work to find the doggies the best home.  Knowing he will be where he should be has really helped curb our sadness in having to find him a new home.  We miss him, but are thankful that we found the right place for Charlie.

Here is a picture the foster family sent to me of Charlie and the other doggies listening to him read the Bible.  They are so attentive.  Hahahaha!

  2. I'm so glad he's ok! I was scared by the title that "letting go" meant "putting down". Whew!!!!
