February in Ohio!

Elsa had the great opportunity to run in a race about an hour away from Meema and Peepa's house, and with February break directly after it we decided to spend a bit of time in Ohio.  The Spire Scholastic Showcase, at the Spire Institute, was a chance for Elsa to run against some good competition this indoor season.  She was entered into the 1600m and came in ranked 14th.  She ran a very strong race, set a personal record in both the 1500m (4:45.87) and the 1600m (5:06.89), and placed 8th which ranked her #6 for all of NY!

We brought along Elsa's teammate and running buddy, and he fit in nicely, just like family.  Josh wanted a chance to get to know my dad, who had been training him from far away, and to learn more about how better to train/race.  We all enjoyed our time.

Garry won Army Men, which is a total Ohio tradition.  I am hoping to take the win one of these trips.

Josh and Elsa do a lot of running.  Always nice to have someone who shares in your pain.  Ha!  We were anxious to leave on Tuesday as Josh and Elsa were slated to run at sectionals on Wednesday, but the weather at home was awful.  Roads were closing left and right, and we received so many reports from home saying "Stay Put!!!".  We took all the kids up to the mall to kill some time and somehow all of them ended up riding the mall animals.  Even Josh and Elsa.  Ha!

We left early on Wednesday morning, and thankfully the roads were clear and we made it in time for the kids to run at sectionals.  A great time was had in Ohio!
