Indoor Track, a Huge Success!

So thankful we were able to have an indoor track team this year!  We started out with 5 kids, but that quickly pared down to 3.  I was excited to be able to coach, and although it was exhausting, I am hoping I get the chance to do it all again next year!

Elsa was sick through most of this season, and was really down and out right before States.  Her pediatrician was determined to find out why a very healthy, incredibly in-shape, healthy eating girl could not seem to shake her upper respiratory issues, and was having such a struggle with leg fatigue, and was constantly dealing with her arms going numb during the first two laps of her races.  He sent her for blood work and a spirometry breathing test.  Her blood work was almost all normal, but her spirometry test confirmed what we already suspected; Exercise-Induced Asthma.  The two biggest triggers for E-IA are soccer and long distance running, which is pretty unfortunate for my soccer and track lovin' girl.  The good news is her inhaler should make a world of difference, and I am so incredibly proud of how this girl pushed through this season, and accomplished so much.

She really had an amazing indoor season, and here are some of her highlights:

Three wins at Sectionals.  The 1000m, 1500m, and 3000m

Section 5, Class D, Female MVP

1st Place at State Qualifiers, with a new PR in the 1500m

11th Place finish at States in the 1500m

National Champion in the 3000m in NYC!!
