Outdoor Track 2017
2 track meets. That was it for her senior year. Her knee just couldn't tolerate any more than the two track meets. Calling off her final track season wasn't an easy decision, but it was also unavoidable.
But even only having run in those two track meets she won all four of her events, earned MVP of the Olean Invitational, made the front page of the newspaper, broke a school record in the 400m Hurdles, and earned the YenTiming Scholarship for Section V.
And so ends her High School Track Career with the following:
9 School Records
19 Meet Records
17 Sectional Titles (previously the most ever won by an FCS althlete was 2)
2 State Titles
7 State Medals (5 State, 2 Federation)
1 National Championship
4 Team MVP Awards
1 Team Legacy Award
2 County MVP Awards
3 Sectional MVP Awards
5 All-Greater Rochester 1st Team Honors
3 Front Page Newspaper Appearances
1 Democrat & Chronicle Athlete of the Week Honor
I am so proud of how she handled the disappointment of becoming a full-time cheerleader for the remainder of the track season. I know it wasn't easy, but she continued to attend all the practices and meets, and worked hard to encourage everyone on her team. Which to me is better than any award she could have earned.
