NYSSMA All-State 2013

Last April Michael traipsed off to a special vocal solo-fest in hopes of receiving a high enough score to be considered for New York State's highest HS choir honor, All-State.  He was excited to find out he scored 100/100 which secured him a spot in the Mixed Choir.   Lot's of practicing & memorizing music; vocal arrangements more difficult than he had ever sang before.

He left on a Thursday morning to join the 900 other All-State participants for 3 days of intense practicing and group bonding.  Choirs, Jazz bands, Concert bands, Orchestras (and the like) all coming together for the best that NY has to offer.  We left early Sunday morning for the fantastic concert.  I knew it was going to be great, but I had no idea the level of excellence that would be presented.  I'm not ashamed to say I cried through the first 2 songs.  My Michael, completely in his element.  Proud doesn't even begin to express how I feel! 4 students from our school had the honor of participating this weekend, which is quite an oddity for such a small school.  I scanned the program and didn't even find anyone else participating from our County.  Proud of them all!
