New Balance Nationals!

Following up the excitement of a State Title proved to be difficult, especially in the 96 degree heat!  When your legs refuse to cooperate over the water pits, and the heat is oppressive, it's hard to run a personal best.  She would have to settle for her second best time!

It was a bit of a whirlwind trip for Elsa, Peepa, and I on the trip down to North Carolina.  Dad and I left very early Friday morning from Cleveland, while Elsa flew out of Buffalo later that day, after she completed her 2 regents.  We picked her up from the airport in NC and we were all ready for her Saturday race!

She was in the fast heat and was ranked 9th.  Her plan was to go full force for the win, and only being 10 seconds off of the leaders time, it seemed like a good game plan.  I am so proud of her determination, and gumption, but the win will have to wait for another year.  She wasn't the only one to struggle through the awful heat.  I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking:

She ended up 7th in her heat and 11th overall, which is an improvement over her 17th place at Nationals last year!  She has dedicated so much time in training, and I am so proud of everything she has accomplished.  I can't wait to see what the future holds for her!!
