The Baby Birdies!
About a month ago I noticed the abandoned nest outside our laundry room was being spruced up! New branches and twigs were being intertwined with the old, and the mama bird was starting to spend some time sleeping in the nest.
I checked that nest everyday and was delighted to see a little egg on the 4th of July!
I thought the mama bird was a bit of a lazy girl, having only produced one egg, but much to my surprise there was another egg waiting for us on July 6th!
And then the next day there were three!
We did some research after the eggs arrived, and found out they should hatch after 14 days...well, Bert broke free of his shell on day 15!
And not to be outdone by his brother, Paco joined him on the same day!
Aunt Jemimah bravely made her way into the world the next day
We hope to document as much as we can, and will be sad to miss the final stages of them in the nest due to our trip to Ohio...but until then we intend to enjoy every moment of this amazing process!
