Track 2013 Post Season
It was a great season for both Tess and Elsa and they were excited to find out that they were seeded 1st at Sectionals for the their main races, the 1500m and the 3000. Elsa was also slated to do the high jump and the 4x800. Tess was in for the 4x800, 4x400 and the 800.
Elsa took 1st place in the 3000 and Tess in the 1500, becoming Sectional Champs and guaranteeing them a spot in the State Qualifiers! The 4x800 team placed 2nd, the 4x400 came in 5th, and Tess placed 5th in the 800. Tess had a great day considering she was struggling with the dreaded flu that had been floating around our town. Elsa was only able to clear 3' 10 for the High Jump. She was disappointed that they didn't follow protocol during this track meet and continued to raise the bar while she was off running her 4x800.
Elsa and Tess were the only two from our team to continue on to State Qualifiers. Elsa was ranked 3rd in the 3000 and Tess was ranked 2nd in the 1500 and 7th for the 800m. It was a blazing hot day, over 90 degrees at 5pm when the track meet started. Holy cow it was hot! Both girls knew they needed to place 1st to qualify for States.
Elsa gave it her all and placed 4th for the 3000, officially ending her 8th grade track season, but it was a great season for her! Tess placed 2nd in the 1500 and 5th in the 800. The winner in the 1500 decided to focus on another race allowing Tess to advance to States! We are so proud of her and will be there to cheer her on!
