Super 8's
Elsa and Tess have had a fantastic track season so far, and were hoping their times would qualify them for the Super 8's invitational. This specific invitational invites the top 8 times for each race, from the three surrounding counties, to compete; toting it to be the "best of the best".
We were thrilled to find out that Elsa and Tess both qualified to run in the 1500 and the 3000 races, together. Thankfully their coaches understood that the girls running both races would end in substandard times, and decided they would run their best event only. Elsa was seeded 2nd for the 3000 and Tess was ranked 3rd for the 1500. These 8th graders were the only 2 from their team to qualify, and they were very excited!
It was a beautiful night for a track meet. The girls ran great races and improved both on their personal records and the Varsity record in their races.
Tess placed 4th with a 1500 time of 4:58.60. It was her goal to go under 5 minutes, and she ran an amazing race, allowing her to reach that goal! New PR and new Varsity record!
Peepa drove the 3.5 hours to see his granddaughter win. He drove out just for the race, only to turn around at 9pm to head back home. He said it was totally worth it and was so thankful he didn't miss this one!
The race was great, but the last lap and a half was an amazing sight to see; how she broke from the pack and immediately pulled away from the rest of the runners, sprinting like a beautiful gazelle. Her determination and focus was incredible.
So proud of you, Elsa! Keep giving the glory to the Lord, as He is the one who blessed you with such fast feet!

Elsa ran a great race with a great group of girls! Usually the 3000 runners spread out a bit, but these girls stayed together for most of the race, at a very speedy pace. She broke away from the pack with a lap and a half to go and earned 1st place with a 3000 time of 10:48.91. This was 19 second faster than her previous PR, and has made the 3000 Varsity record even harder to break in the future!
