Hello, her name is Elsa

...and apparently she is fast!

Elsa had her first track meet this week and she loved it!  Her decision to attend this track meet actually cost her her role in the middle school play, but somehow I think breaking two school records made up for that.  She has been waiting since 3rd grade to join the track team and was so excited the day of the meet!  She ran the 400, 200 and did the high jump.

She cleared a few heights on the high jump before the call came in for the start of the 400.  Apparently you are allowed to abandon any field event to attend your track event.  Then you just come back later and continue where you left off.  The things you learn at a track meet :)  I think she was most nervous about this race.  She really wanted to win it, and being her first official race she wasn't sure what to expect.

On your marks, get set...

Coming down the home stretch...

Crossing the finish line...

She won it and broke the school record with a time of 72.1 seconds.  She was thrilled!! She returned to the high jump and cleared some more heights but soon the call for the 200 came over the loud speaker.  She ran well and came in third.  She was highly disappointed and doesn't want to talk about it.  Hahahahaha  I told her she can't win them all, but I am not sure she was listening.

She finished off the meet by completing the high jump and won with a height of 4 feet 2 inches.  We were pretty excited with just the win, but she found out the next day that she actually broke that school record too.  Needless to say, she is loving her first track season!

  1. When you run the 400 you are usually done physically for the rest of the meet - If you run the 100 you can go on to run other races and do well. Having run the 400 before the 200 affected the time in the 200 by a lot. Don't give up on the 200. GREAT JOB ELSA "PEEPA"
