Vinegar Volcanoes

I've been working to incorporate more projects into the littles lives.  It's been a bit problematic as they are so close in age, but so far apart in developmental stages.  I decided Easton and Chase can start now and Noah can work on his coloring.  Thankfully he has gotten past the "cram every crayon in his mouth" stage.

This has simple set up and easy cleanup.  I like both of those!  We filled the muffin tins up with baking powder, colored some vinegar, placed down a towel and gave them each an eye dropper.  They did the rest of the work.  I was really worried they would squirt the dyed liquid at each other, or knock over the prep bowls while learning to use the droppers and make a huge mess.  Surprisingly, they were concentrating so hard on sucking up the liquid they ended up using really small and calculated movements.  No mess!  Yay!  They loved the sound of the sizzle and the visual appeal of the reaction.  Their own small colorful volcanoes.  This project was a total success, as was proved by the six completely sucked dry prep bowls.  It's not often I luck out and find something that keeps them so happily entertained!
